How Golden Gate Was Founded
The Leach family built this village in the late 1800s. It was placed near the railroad tracks and the Little Wabash River. This location was chosen to help with business and trade. The area around Golden Gate is called Leech Township. It was named after Samuel Leech, who was one of the first settlers there.
