Gonzalo Sorondo's Football Journey
Playing for Clubs
Gonzalo Sorondo started his football career with a team in Uruguay called Defensor Sporting Club. In 2001, he moved to Italy to play for Inter Milan. He played in 11 games in his first season there.
Later, in 2003, he went to Belgium to play for Standard Liège on a temporary loan. In August 2004, he moved to England and joined Crystal Palace on loan. He played for them in the Premier League.
A year later, in July 2005, he went on another loan to Charlton Athletic. After this loan, he signed a permanent contract with Charlton in 2006. However, he left Charlton in February 2007 after playing only one game. He then returned to his first club, Defensor Sporting Club.
In early 2012, Gonzalo joined Grêmio in Brazil. But during the training before the season, he got a serious knee injury. Because of this, his contract with the team ended.
Playing for His Country
Gonzalo Sorondo also played for the Uruguay national team. He played in the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, where Uruguay finished in 4th place.
He made his first game for the senior Uruguay team on August 15, 2000, against Colombia. He was part of the team that played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In later years, injuries and not playing much for his club teams meant he was not chosen for the national team as often.
