Gonzalo Vargas's Football Journey
Early Career in Uruguay and Argentina
Gonzalo Vargas started his professional football career in Uruguay. He played for Defensor Sporting from 2002 to 2004. During his time there, he played in 124 games and scored 54 goals.
After that, he moved to Argentina. He joined the team Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. He played for them from 2005 to 2006, scoring 27 goals in 55 matches.
Playing in Europe and Mexico
In 2006, Gonzalo Vargas moved to Europe. He signed with AS Monaco in France. While at Monaco, he also played on loan for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2007 and 2008. He scored 3 goals in 10 games for Sochaux.
Later, in 2008, he went to Mexico. He joined F.C. Atlas as a new forward. He played for Atlas for a few years, first on loan and then permanently. He scored 10 goals in 32 games during his loan spell.
Return to South America
Gonzalo Vargas returned to Argentina in 2010. He played for Argentinos Juniors on loan for the 2010-11 season. He then went back to Gimnasia de La Plata for another season.
Towards the end of his career, he played for C.A. Bella Vista and Rampla Juniors in Uruguay. He scored 13 goals for Bella Vista in just 8 games, which is a great record! He finished his career at Rampla Juniors.
