Gonzaque Village is a special community in the Watts area of Los Angeles, California. It's a place where many families live, and it's managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. This community was built a long time ago, in 1942. It covers a large area, about 17.6 acres, which is like 13 football fields! There are 71 buildings, all one-story, with 182 homes for about 437 people.

A Look Back in Time
The community was first called Hacienda Village. It was built in 1942 during World War II. At that time, building new homes was often stopped because materials were needed for the war. However, Hacienda Village was allowed to be built. This was because it would provide homes for workers who had important jobs helping with the war effort.
The homes were designed by a famous architect named Paul Revere Williams. He was a very talented architect from Los Angeles. The project cost about $503,206 and was finished in May 1942.
In December 2000, the community was given a new name: Gonzaque Village. This was done to honor Ozie B. Gonzaque. She was a longtime resident of South Central Los Angeles and was known for her amazing volunteer work in the area.
