Alfie's Bedtime Story

This book tells the story of Alfie Atkins and his father during bedtime. It's nine o'clock in the evening, and it's time for Alfie to go to sleep. However, Alfie is not quite ready to settle down for the night.

Alfie's Many Delays

Alfie's father tries to help him fall asleep by reading a fairytale about a horse. But just as Alfie is getting comfortable, he remembers something important. He suddenly realizes he hasn't brushed his teeth yet! So, he gets up to take care of that.

After brushing his teeth, Alfie feels thirsty. He gets a drink of water, but then he accidentally spills it. His father has to come and clean up the mess. Soon after, Alfie says he needs to use the potty, and his father brings it to him.

A Lion in the Wardrobe?

Alfie then tells his father that there's a lion hiding inside his wardrobe. His father patiently goes to check, explaining that lions usually don't live in wardrobes. Next, Alfie asks for his favorite Teddy Bear. His father searches for it in the bathroom and finally finds it under the couch.

A Quiet End to the Night

Alfie waits for his father to return with the Teddy Bear. When his father doesn't come back, Alfie goes to look for him. He finds his father asleep on the floor, with the Teddy Bear right beside him. Alfie gently covers his father with a duvet. Then, Alfie quietly goes back to his own bed and finally falls asleep.
