The Good Templars Hall is an old public building. It was built in 1858 in a style called Greek Revival. This historic hall is located in Nininger, a small town in Minnesota, U.S..
The building was first used by a group called the Independent Order of Good Templars. This group believed in living a healthy lifestyle. They built the two-story hall as a place where people could gather and have fun together.
What Happened to the Hall?
The town of Nininger faced challenges when the railroad did not come through in 1859. This made the town's growth slow down. Because of this, the Good Templars Hall was sold to the local school district.
Changes Over Time
In the late 1870s, the building needed repairs. The first floor was removed because it was decaying. The upper floor and roof were then lowered to the ground level. This changed the building's look quite a bit.
A New Home for History
Later, a group interested in history helped fix up the building. They used it as a community center for many years. In 2005, the Good Templars Hall was moved to the Little Log House Pioneer Village. This village is a special place where old buildings are preserved.
Today, a special sign, called a plaque, marks the hall's original spot. It helps people remember where this important building once stood.
