Gorbonianus facts for kids
Gorbonianus was a legendary king from ancient Britain. His story comes from old tales written by Geoffrey of Monmouth. Gorbonianus was the oldest son of King Morvidus. He had four brothers: Archgallo, Elidurus, Ingenius, and Peredurus.
A King Who Ruled Fairly
Gorbonianus was different from many kings in the old stories. He really believed in fairness and treated everyone justly. He also managed his kingdom's money wisely.
He made sure to honor the gods and ruled his people with good laws. During his time as king, many temples were built or fixed up. The kingdom also became richer.
Gorbonianus made sure that farmers in the countryside were safe from their powerful landlords. He also gave money to his soldiers. This helped stop them from being violent towards farmers or people in neighboring lands.
His Time as King
Gorbonianus ruled for a good amount of time. When he died, he was buried in a place called Trinovantum, which is now the city of London.
After Gorbonianus, his brother Archgallo became king. However, Archgallo was not a good ruler and was soon removed from power. The kingship then went back and forth between Gorbonianus's brothers for several years. Eventually, after the last of his brothers, Elidurus, passed away, the kingdom went to Gorbonianus's own son. This son is called Lador in some old stories.
