Gordon "Gordie" Fashoway (June 16, 1926 – May 1, 2012) was a professional ice hockey player from Canada. He was known as a talented left winger. Gordie played in the NHL for the Chicago Black Hawks. He also played for many years in the Western Hockey League. After his playing career, Fashoway became a successful coach.

Gordie Fashoway's Hockey Journey
Gordie Fashoway was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. He loved ice hockey from a young age. His career as a professional player began in 1944. He played until 1963, showing great skill on the ice.
Playing in the NHL
Gordie Fashoway played 13 games for the Chicago Black Hawks during the 1950-51 NHL season. The NHL is the top professional ice hockey league in North America. Playing in the NHL is a big achievement for any hockey player.
Success in the Western Hockey League
Most of Fashoway's playing career was spent in the Western Hockey League (WHL). This was another important professional league at the time. He played for several teams in the WHL. These teams included the New Westminster Royals, the Victoria Cougars, and the Portland Buckaroos.
While playing with the Portland Buckaroos, Gordie achieved a special award. In 1960, he won the Fred J. Hume Cup. This award recognized his excellent performance in the league.
From Player to Coach
After he stopped playing, Gordie Fashoway decided to become a coach. He wanted to share his knowledge and love for the game. His first coaching job was with the Oakland Golden Seals in 1968. He coached them for one year.
Fashoway then became the head coach for the Portland Buckaroos. This was the same team he had played for earlier. He coached the Buckaroos for five years. During the 1970-71 WHL season, his team won their third WCHL championship. This showed his great skill as a coach.
