Gordon S. Earle was born on February 27, 1943. He is a Canadian politician who worked to make things fair for everyone. Mr. Earle is a member of the New Democratic Party, which is a political group in Canada. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for a part of Nova Scotia called Halifax West. He served as an MP from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Earle made history as the first Black Member of Parliament elected from Nova Scotia.

Gordon Earle's Public Service Work
Gordon Earle spent many years working for the public. He was one of the very first people to work for the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. This organization helps make sure everyone is treated fairly and equally.
- He worked as the Chief Human Rights Officer.
- He also helped the Ombudsman in Nova Scotia. An Ombudsman is like a public helper who investigates complaints about government actions.
- Later, he became the Ombudsman for the province of Manitoba.
Time in Canadian Parliament
While Gordon Earle was a Member of Parliament, he spoke up for important issues. He was the New Democratic Party's "critic" for several areas. This means he was the main spokesperson for his party on these topics.
- He focused on Multiculturalism, which is about celebrating different cultures.
- He also worked on issues related to Citizenship and Immigration.
- He was involved with Indigenous Affairs and National Defence.

- In the 2004 Canadian federal election, he ran in a new area called South Shore—St. Margaret's. This area included a small part of his old riding. He came in third place in that election.
- He ran again in the 2006 Canadian federal election. He did better this time, placing second.
- Mr. Earle ran for a third time in the 2008 Canadian federal election. He lost by a very small number of votes.
- He also ran in the 2011 federal election, but was not elected.
Gordon Earle's Personal Life
Outside of politics, Gordon Earle is a skilled martial artist. He has a black belt in Karate. He even started his own Karate club called the Hammonds Plains Karate Club.
