Gostyn (pronounced GOS-tin) is a small community located in Downers Grove, a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It is found along Fairview Avenue, close to Westmont.

Gostyn is named after a city called Gostyń in Poland. This community was one of the first places in Illinois where many people from eastern Europe settled.

History of Gostyn

Gostyn has a long history. In 1889, a directory showed that 575 people lived there. Most of these early residents were of Polish descent. This made Gostyn an important early settlement for Polish immigrants in Illinois.
