Gove City, often called Gove, is a small city in Kansas, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Gove County. In 2020, about 80 people lived there.

History of Gove City

Gove City was started in 1885. Just one year later, in 1886, it became the official county seat for Gove County. This means it's where the county government offices are located. The city officially became a town in 1888.

The city is named after Grenville Gove. He was a member of a group called the 11th Kansas Cavalry Regiment.
