Gracie Otto is a talented Australian director, writer, and actress. She is known for creating a wide range of screen content, from short films and documentaries to popular television series.

Her first major film as a director was the 2013 documentary The Last Impresario. This film tells the story of Michael White, a famous British theatre and film producer, also known as an impresario (a person who organizes and finances entertainment).

Early Life and Sports

Gracie Otto grew up in a family of actors. Her father is the well-known Australian actor Barry Otto, and her half-sister is actress Miranda Otto. She went to Burwood Girls High School in Sydney.

Before she became a filmmaker, Gracie was a skilled athlete. She played indoor soccer for both Australia and her state of New South Wales. She also represented New South Wales in softball during her school years.

First Major Film

Otto's first feature-length film was the documentary The Last Impresario. It premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in 2013 and received great reviews. For the film, Otto interviewed 60 of Michael White's friends and colleagues to tell his amazing story.

Television Success

Otto has also directed several popular television shows.

  • In 2019, she directed the second season of the comedy series The Other Guy.
  • In 2021, she directed three episodes of the hit show Bump.
  • In 2022, she directed four episodes of the Netflix teen drama Heartbreak High. Her work on this show earned her a nomination for an AACTA Award, which is one of Australia's top film and TV awards.
