Gracie Otto is a talented Australian filmmaker and actress. She is known for directing movies, TV shows, and documentaries. Her first full-length movie as a director was a documentary called The Last Impresario in 2013. This film was about a famous British theatre and film producer named Michael White. Gracie Otto has also directed many other types of screen projects, including short films, TV commercials, and popular TV series.

Gracie Otto's Early Life

Gracie Otto grew up in Australia. Her father is the well-known Australian actor Barry Otto, and her mother is Susan Hill. She also has a half-sister, Miranda Otto, who is also an actress.

Gracie went to Burwood Girls High School in Sydney. When she was a student, she was very good at sports! She played indoor soccer and represented both Australia and her home state, New South Wales. She also played softball for New South Wales.

Gracie Otto's first full-length movie as a director was the 2014 documentary The Last Impresario. This film told the story of Michael White, a very busy British theatre and film producer. The movie first showed at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2013. Critics really liked it, and it included interviews with 60 of Michael White's friends and co-workers.

Gracie has also directed many shorter films. In 2019, she won a script competition in the US. After that, she directed and edited a new short film called Desert. This film was shown for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2019, Gracie directed the second season of the TV show The Other Guy. This show was made for the streaming service Stan. It starred actors like Matt Okine, Claudia Karvan, and Harriet Dyer. In early 2021, another Stan original series called Bump was released. Gracie directed three of the ten episodes in this popular show, which starred Claudia Karvan, Natalie Morris, and Angus Sampson.

In 2021, Gracie Otto's feature documentary Under the Volcano came out. This film was about a recording studio that music producer George Martin built in the 1980s on the island of Montserrat.

In 2022, she directed four episodes of the Netflix comedy-drama series Heartbreak High. For her work on this show, she was nominated for an award called the AACTA Award for Best Direction in Television.
