Grand Festivities Square facts for kids
Grand Festivities Square is a large area in Zawraa Park in Baghdad, Iraq. It is a special place used for celebrations and parades. The square was built in 1986. It was ordered by the president at that time, Saddam Hussein. The purpose was to celebrate Iraq's victory in the Iran-Iraq War.
The square features a big reviewing stand and a pavilion. This pavilion is a building that also has a cinema and a theater inside. The square has been used for important national events, including large military parades.
Victory Arch and Nearby Monuments
The famous Victory Arch stands over the two main entrances to the square. This arch is also known as the Swords of Qādisīyah. It is a very well-known landmark in Baghdad. Grand Festivities Square is also located right next to The Monument to the Unknown Soldier. This monument honors soldiers who died in war.
