Grand Rapids, North Dakota facts for kids
Grand Rapids is a small unincorporated community located in LaMoure County, which is in the state of North Dakota in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a town.
History
The community of Grand Rapids got its name from the rapids found in the nearby James River. Rapids are parts of a river where the water flows very quickly, often over rocks.
A post office was opened in Grand Rapids in the year 1880. This post office was an important place for people to send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years, serving the community, until it finally closed in 1966.
