History of Grandview
Grandview was officially established in 1851. The town got its name because of the beautiful "grand view" it offers of the Ohio River. A post office, which helps people send and receive mail, has been operating in Grandview since 1854.
Geography and Location
Grandview is located along the Ohio River. It is just upstream from Rockport, Indiana, and downstream from Lewisport, Kentucky. The Rockport Generating Station, a power plant, is located just west of Grandview.
Indiana State Road 66 is a main road that connects Grandview to other towns. It links Grandview with Rockport to the southwest and the Tell City area to the northeast. According to the 2010 census, Grandview covers an area of about 0.96 square miles (2.49 square kilometers), and all of it is land.

In 2010, there were 749 people living in Grandview. These people lived in 288 households, and 199 of these were families. The town had about 780 people per square mile. Most of the people living in Grandview were White (96.1%). About 27.9% of the residents were under 18 years old, and 12.3% were 65 years or older.
Education in Grandview
Grandview is part of the South Spencer County School Corporation. This is the school district that serves the area.
Before 1943, Grandview had its own high school. The school colors were gold and purple. However, in 1943, students from Grandview's high school began attending Luce Township High School. Later, in 1965, Luce Township High School merged into South Spencer High School.
Grandview also has a public library. It is a branch of the Spencer County Public Library system, where people can borrow books and use other resources.
