Grapeview is a small community located in Mason County, Washington, in the United States. It is known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population numbers, but it's not an officially organized city or town.
In 2020, about 991 people lived in Grapeview. It used to be part of a larger area called Allyn-Grapeview, but in 2010, it became its own separate CDP. Grapeview is connected to Washington State Route 3, a major road, by Grapeview Loop Road.
You can find a small Puget Sound Maritime Museum in Grapeview. This museum teaches about boats and the sea history of the area. There's also the Fair Harbor Marina, which is a place where boats can dock.
The Story of Grapeview
Grapeview has an interesting past. From the 1870s to the 1920s, people in Grapeview and other nearby communities used steamboats to travel. These boats were very important for getting around the Case Inlet area. Before roads were common, steamboats were the main way to transport people and goods. Grapeview was even known by a different name back then: Detroit.
