A Look Back: History of Gravelton

Gravelton has an interesting past. A special office for mail, called a post office, was opened in Gravelton way back in 1868. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. It stayed open until 1956.

The community got its name, Gravelton, because of the type of material used to build some of its first buildings. Early on, people used lots of gravel to make concrete for construction. This gave the area its unique name!
