Great Bend is a small town, also called a borough, located in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. It's about 39 miles (63 km) north of Scranton. In 2020, about 634 people lived there.
Great Bend sits right along the Susquehanna River. It is less than two miles (about 3 km) from the New York State border. You can easily reach it from Interstate 81. Some small factories are also located here. Great Bend is considered a "bedroom community" for the Binghamton, NY area. This means many people who live in Great Bend travel to Binghamton for work. Downtown Binghamton is about 11 miles (18 km) away.
The borough has three public parks. Billy Greenwood Memorial Park on Kilrow Avenue and Veterans' Memorial Park on Spring Street offer views of the Susquehanna River. Students in Great Bend attend schools within the Blue Ridge School District.

History of Great Bend
Great Bend Borough was officially formed on November 19, 1861. It was created from parts of Great Bend Township. The town got its name from a large curve, or "bend," in the Susquehanna River that flows nearby.
