A Look Back in Time
The Green Sea area has a long history. It first got a post office on February 15, 1870. Over the next ten years, the post office opened and closed a few times.
On November 8, 1880, a new postmaster, Richard C. Powell, took over. He changed the name of the post office to Powellville. The name stayed Powellville until June 18, 1902. Then, it changed back to Green Sea.
A special building in Green Sea is the John P. Derham House. This historic house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. This means it is recognized as an important historical site.
