Greenbo Lake is a beautiful, man-made lake in Greenup County, Kentucky. It's about 181-acre (0.73 km2) big and sits among the rolling hills of the Appalachian foothills. This special lake was created in 1955. A group of local people, called the Greenbo Lake Association, worked with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to build it. They wanted to create a fun place for everyone to visit.
The lake's unique name comes from combining two county names. It's a mix of "Greenup" (where the lake is) and nearby "Boyd County." The association even held a contest to pick the best name, and "Greenbo" was the winning choice!
