Discovering Greenfield's Past
Greenfield started as a piece of land owned by George Evans in 1899. Around 1900-1902, the Choctaw Northern Railroad built tracks through the area. This railroad line went from Geary, Oklahoma all the way to Anthony, Kansas.
The railroad company bought the land from its owners at the time, T.G. Curtner and J.M. Gray. They then planned out the town and started selling pieces of land. This is how Greenfield began to grow. Today, the town still has train service for goods through the AT&L Railroad.
