Early Life and High School Sports
Greg grew up in Warren, Arkansas. He went to Warren High School. There, he was a talented athlete. He played football, basketball, and ran track. He even went to school with future teammates Jarius Wright and Chris Gragg. In 2007, during his senior year, he was chosen as an all-state player. He was also very good at track and field. He was a strong triple jumper, jumping over 13 meters.
College Football Career
Greg Childs played college football for the University of Arkansas.
Freshman Year (2008)
As a freshman in 2008, Greg played in 12 games. He started one of those games. He caught 18 passes for 273 yards. He also scored two touchdowns.
Sophomore Year (2009)
In his second year, Greg started eight out of 13 games. He was a key player for his team. He led the team with 48 catches. He gained 894 yards and scored seven touchdowns.
Junior Year (2010)
During his junior year in 2010, Greg played in eight games. He had 46 catches for 659 yards. He scored six touchdowns. However, his season ended early. He suffered a serious injury to his knee, called a patellar tendon injury.

Playing for the Minnesota Vikings

On August 3, 2012, Greg faced a big challenge. He was at a training camp with the Vikings. He injured both of his knees. Tests showed that he had torn the patellar tendons in both knees. This type of injury is very serious for athletes. Because of this, he could not play at all during his first year. The Vikings placed him on a special list for injured players.
On August 27, 2013, Greg was still recovering. He was placed on a list for players who were physically unable to perform. The Vikings released Greg from their team on March 6, 2014. This meant he was no longer a Viking player. In May 2014, he tried out for the Jaguars team. However, he was not offered a contract.
Playing for the Toronto Argonauts
On September 10, 2014, Greg signed with the Toronto Argonauts. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was part of their practice team. However, he was released by the Argonauts on September 27, 2014.
