Greg McCrary was born in Griffin, Georgia, on March 24, 1952. He attended Griffin High School where he played football. After high school, he went on to play college football at Clark Atlanta University. Playing for the Clark Atlanta Panthers, he honed his skills and became a standout player.
Playing in the NFL
Greg McCrary's talent was noticed by professional teams. In 1975, he was chosen in the NFL Draft. This is a special event where NFL teams pick new players from colleges. Greg was picked in the fifth round, as the 123rd player overall.
His first team was the Atlanta Falcons, where he played from 1975 to 1977. After that, he joined the Washington Redskins in 1978. Later that same year, he moved to the San Diego Chargers, playing with them until 1980. He returned to the Washington Redskins for his final season in 1981.
