Groomsville is a small place in Indiana, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Prairie Township in Tipton County.
History
People started settling in the area where Groomsville is now even before it was officially founded. In 1853, a church called Liberty Baptist Church was started just north of where Groomsville would be.
Groomsville itself was officially founded in 1860. A person named Enoch Smith helped set up the post office there. Groomsville was named after B.M. Groom, who was a physician (a doctor) and also an auditor (someone who checks financial records) for Tipton County.
Soon after Groomsville was founded, a general store was built. A general store sells many different kinds of goods. This store was later sold to new owners, McCreary and Stoops, in 1883.
In 1870, a famous person named John W. Kern gave his very first political speech in Groomsville. A political speech is when someone talks about government ideas or tries to get people to vote for them. The post office in Groomsville stopped operating in 1900.
