Guajataca is a special area, like a neighborhood, in the town of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 603 people lived there. It is also home to the Guajataka Scout Reservation, a popular place for scouts!
A Look at Guajataca's Past
After the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that the combined population of Guajataca and a nearby area called Cibao was 1,169 people.
