Guam, Missouri facts for kids
Guam is a small, unincorporated community located in Stoddard County, Missouri, United States. It's found about ten miles northeast of a town called Dexter. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes or businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town. Instead, they are part of the larger county's rules and services.
History of Guam, Missouri
This community wasn't always called Guam. When it was first established around 1910, its original name was "Paront." Later, the people living there decided to change the name to Guam. This new name was chosen to honor the distant territory of Guam, which is an island in the Pacific Ocean. It's interesting how places can be named after other places, even if they are very far apart!
