A Look at Guaro's History

People have lived in the Guaro area for a very long time. Signs of the earliest humans have been found here. The town itself started when the Arabs came to southern Spain. The first Arab settlement was in a place called Old Guaro. It was near a tower that was part of old forts.

The Catholic Monarchs took control of Guaro in 1485. This was a big change for the town. Later, in 1614, King Philip IV of Spain made Guaro an independent village. This meant it could make its own rules. Today, Guaro is famous for its pretty streets. They are lined with white houses decorated with colorful flowers.

The main old building is Saint Michel's parish church. It was built in the 1500s. It was later updated in the early 1600s. The church has a tall, square bell tower.
