The Story of Guckeen: A Look Back
Guckeen has an interesting past! It wasn't always known by its current name. When this area was first planned out in the year 1900, it was called Derby.
Just one year later, in 1901, a post office opened in the community. This post office was given the name Guckeen. It stayed open for many years, helping people send and receive mail, until it finally closed in 1973. The name "Guckeen" comes from the last name of one of the very first people to settle in this area.
