Gurgen Ambartsumovich Egiazaryan (Armenian: Գուրգեն Համբարձումի Եղիազարյան) was an important person from Armenia. He was born on September 29, 1948, and passed away on October 28, 2020. Gurgen Egiazaryan worked as a politician and a civil servant. A civil servant is someone who works for the government to help run the country.

Gurgen Egiazaryan was born in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. He loved to learn and studied at two different universities.

His Education and Early Career

From 1967 to 1973, he studied Economics at the Yerevan State University. He finished his studies there in 1973. Later, from 1987 to 1990, he studied Law at the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy. This helped him prepare for his future work in government.

Starting in 1976, Gurgen Egiazaryan began working for the government. He held many different jobs within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This ministry is like a police department for the whole country. He worked for the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic and later for the independent Republic of Armenia.

Some of his important roles included leading a search department and being the Deputy Minister of National Security. This means he helped keep the country safe.

Working in Parliament

From 1999 to 2003, Gurgen Egiazaryan was a member of the Armenian Parliament. The Parliament is where laws are made for the country. While in Parliament, he was part of a special group. This group focused on defense, national security, and internal affairs.

In 2003, he joined a political group called the "New Times" Party. This party was part of the opposition. Opposition parties help make sure the government is doing a good job.

Later Years and Books

In his later years, Gurgen Egiazaryan also became an author. He wrote three books that were published in Armenian.
