Gustaf Fredrik "Jotte" Söderström was a Swedish athlete. He was born in Stockholm on November 25, 1865. He passed away in Lidingö on November 12, 1958.

Gustaf was known for two sports. He was good at track and field events. He also competed in tug of war.

Gustaf Söderström competed in the 1900 Summer Olympics. These games were held in Paris, France. He took part in two track and field events.

Shot Put and Discus Throw

In the 1900 Olympics, Gustaf competed in the shot put. He also competed in the discus throw. He finished sixth in both of these events.

Tug of War Gold Medal

Gustaf also joined the tug of war team. This team was made up of athletes from Denmark and Sweden. They competed against a team from France. Gustaf's Dano-Swedish team won the gold medal!

This was a very special win. These were the first Olympic gold medals ever won by Sweden.

Gustaf Söderström played for Djurgårdens IF. This is a well-known sports club. He also had a brother who was an Olympic medalist. His brother was named Bruno Söderström.
