Per Gustav Edvard Fridolin (born 10 May 1983) is a Swedish journalist, author, and teacher. He is also a former politician.
Gustav Fridolin served as the Minister for Education in Sweden from 2014 to 2019. This means he was in charge of schools and education across the country. He was also one of the two main leaders, called spokespersons, for the Green Party from 2011 to 2019.
He was a Member of the Swedish Parliament (called the Riksdag) from 2002 to 2006. During this time, he was the youngest member of parliament. After a break from politics, he returned to the Riksdag in 2010 and served until 2019.
When the Green Party joined the government in 2014, it was their first time ever. Gustav Fridolin became the Minister for Education. In this role, he worked to make sure students learned important skills like reading, writing, and math. He also helped create a program to increase teachers' salaries. He left his government role in 2019.
Today, Gustav Fridolin works as a teacher at a folk high school in Stockholm.

Early Life and Political Start
Gustav Fridolin was born in Önnestad, Sweden. He grew up in Vittsjö, which is also in Sweden. He joined the Green Party when he was 11 years old, in 1994.
He later became one of the two spokespersons for the Young Greens of Sweden. This was the youth branch of the Green Party. He held this position from 1999 to 2003.
Time in Parliament
Fridolin first became a member of the Swedish parliament in 2002. He was only 19 years old. This made him the youngest MP in Swedish history for a while.
During his first time in parliament, he worked on important committees. He also helped represent the Green Party in talks with other political parties. In 2005, he decided not to run for re-election in the next election.
He returned to parliament in 2010. He continued to be involved in important political discussions and committees.
Author and Journalist
Outside of politics, Gustav Fridolin has also worked as a journalist. He was an investigative journalist for a TV show called Kalla fakta. This means he looked into important issues and reported on them.
He has also written three books about politics. His first book, From Vittsjö to the world, was released in 2006. His other books, Blåsta and Machines and men, came out in 2009 and 2011. Machines and men talked about how to create environmentally friendly industries.
Family Life
Gustav Fridolin married Jennie Fridolin in 2007. They had two children together. They later divorced in 2019.
He married another Green Party politician, Maria Ferm, in July 2023.
Minister for Education
In 2014, Gustav Fridolin became the Minister for Education. This was a very important job. He was part of the government led by Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.
As Minister, he started the 2015 School Commission. He also focused on making sure students had strong skills in reading, writing, and math. He introduced a program called Lärarlönelyftet to help increase teachers' salaries. He left this role in January 2019.
