From 2002 to 2010, she worked in the city council of Stockholm. A city council is a group of people who make decisions for a city. They help manage local issues.
Becoming a National Leader
After the 2010 election, Åsa Romson became a spokesperson for environmental and climate policy. This meant she spoke for her party on important issues like climate change. She also became a member of the Riksdag. The Riksdag is the Swedish parliament, where national laws are made.
On March 29, 2011, she was chosen as a candidate for a top leadership role. She was nominated to be a new spokesperson for the Green Party. She was elected to this role on May 21, 2011, alongside Gustav Fridolin.
