Gustavo Alessandri Valdés was born in Santiago de Chile. He served as the Mayor of the Central Commune of Santiago de Chile from 1987 to 1989. A mayor is a leader of a city or town. He was an MP during three different periods: from 1961 to 1965, then from 1969 to 1971, and again from 1998 to 2002.
He was a member of a political group called the National Renewal Party. He joined this party in 1987 and remained a member until he passed away in 2017. Gustavo Alessandri Valdés died in Santiago de Chile when he was 88 years old.
