Guy Rewenig is a famous writer from Luxembourg. He was born on August 31, 1947. He is well-known for writing the very first novel in the Luxembourgish language in 1984. Before that, people mostly wrote poems and plays in Luxembourgish. Guy Rewenig, along with another writer named Roger Manderscheid, helped start the trend of writing novels in their local language.

About His Life

Guy Rewenig was born in Luxembourg City on August 31, 1947. He went to school at the Athénée de Luxembourg. After that, he trained to become a schoolteacher. He taught in primary schools, first in Bettembourg and then in Esch-sur-Alzette starting in 1971. In 1984, he decided to stop teaching and become a full-time writer. He then moved to Nospelt.

His Writing Career

Guy Rewenig started his writing journey early. In 1963, he published his first film reviews in a newspaper called Luxemburger Wort. His first play, "Interview," came out in 1970. He also published a collection of essays that year.

From 1973, Guy Rewenig also began writing for children. His very popular collection of children's stories, Muschkilusch. Geschichte fir Kanner, was published in 1990.

A very important moment in his career was in 1985. That year, Guy Rewenig published Hannert dem Atlantik. This was the first novel ever written in the Luxembourgish language! It opened the door for many other fiction books to be written in the local language.

Guy Rewenig writes in three languages: German, Luxembourgish, and French. One of his novels, Roman Mass mat dräi Hären, was even translated into French. He has also written many funny stories that point out problems in Luxembourg's society and politics. He often writes articles for newspapers and magazines in Luxembourg.

In 1974, he helped start a group called the Association de soutien aux travailleurs immigrés, which supported immigrant workers. In 2000, he and Roger Manderschied started their own publishing company called Ultimomondo. Many of his books are now published there. In 2010, he wrote a novel called Sibiresch Eisebunn using a different name, Tania Naskandy.
