György Károly (born August 31, 1953 – died October 26, 2018) was a Hungarian poet and writer. He became known for his poems, which he started writing in the 1970s.

György Károly was born in Budapest, Hungary, on August 31, 1953. He was the only son of György Károly, who was a butcher, and Ilona Szabó, who was a tailor.

He spent his early childhood in a town called Szigetszentmiklós. This is where he went to primary school. Later, he finished his studies in Budapest.

György Károly studied to become a geologist. This means he learned about the Earth's rocks and soil. He began writing poems in the 1970s. His very first poems were published in a magazine called Élet és Irodalom, which means "Life and Literature." He did not publish much in the 1980s, but he started writing again in the 1990s.

His Family Life

György Károly was married to Annamária Szklenkay. They had five children together.

The family lived in different towns in Hungary. For twenty years, they lived in Vác. After that, they lived in Pilis for three years. Finally, they moved back to Szigetszentmiklós, where György Károly had spent his early life.

György Károly passed away on October 26, 2018. He died because of a brain tumor.
