Håvard Nielsen is a talented Norwegian football player. He was born on July 15, 1993. Håvard plays as a forward or winger for 2. Bundesliga club Hannover 96. He has also played for the Norway national team.

Håvard Nielsen's Football Journey

Starting Out in Oslo

Håvard Nielsen grew up in Oslo, the capital city of Norway. He began playing football at a young age with his local club, Oppsal IF. When he was 14, in 2007, he joined a bigger club called Vålerenga.

Playing for Vålerenga

Håvard made his first appearance in Norway's top football league, the Norwegian Premier League, on October 5, 2009. He was the youngest player ever to play for Vålerenga at that time. In January 2011, he signed his first professional contract with the club. By the time he was 18, Håvard was already an experienced player. On July 11, 2012, he scored three goals in one game, which is called a hat-trick, for Vålerenga against Odd Grenland.

Moving to International Clubs

In July 2012, Håvard signed a deal to play for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. Later, in January 2014, he moved to Germany to play for Eintracht Braunschweig on a temporary basis, known as a loan. He made his debut in Germany's top league, the Bundesliga, on January 26, 2014. After his loan ended in June 2015, he returned to Red Bull Salzburg.

In the winter of 2015, Håvard joined another German club, SC Freiburg. After playing for Freiburg for about a year and a half, he signed a three-year contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf in July 2017. This club plays in Germany's second division, the 2. Bundesliga.

In January 2019, Håvard was loaned to MSV Duisburg for a short period. Then, on July 26, 2019, he joined Greuther Fürth, another team in the 2. Bundesliga, signing a two-year contract.

Before the 2022–23 season, Håvard Nielsen joined Hannover 96, also in the 2. Bundesliga. He signed a two-year contract with them and continues to play for Hannover 96 as of July 2025.

Playing for Norway

Representing His Country

Håvard Nielsen has played for Norway's national teams since he was 16 years old. He played in all the games for the 2011 European Under-19 Championship qualification and scored one goal. This helped the Norway Under-19 team move on to the next stage of the competition.

Håvard made his first appearance for the main Norwegian national team in 2012 when he was still a teenager. He has played for Norway's national team 14 times. He scored his first goal for Norway in November 2012, when he was just 19 years old, in a friendly match against Hungary. His second goal for Norway came in October 2014, during a European Championship qualifying game against Bulgaria.
