H. Wayne Norman Jr. (born November 3, 1955 – died March 4, 2018) was an American lawyer and politician. He served in the Maryland Senate, representing parts of Harford and Cecil counties. Before that, he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. He was known for working hard for the people in his community.
Learning and Law School
H. Wayne Norman Jr. loved learning. He went to the University of Baltimore and earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1976. Later, he returned to the University of Baltimore School of Law to study law. He received his law degree in 1980. In 1981, he became a licensed lawyer in Maryland.
Public Service and Community Work
Before becoming a state politician, Norman was active in his local community. He was a member of the Harford County Liquor Board. He also served on the Harford County Republican Central Committee from 1998 to 2007. He was a lifelong member of the Harford County Republican Club.
Norman was also involved in many other groups. He was part of the Bel Air/Forest Hill Community Council. He was a member of the Harford Chamber of Commerce, which helps local businesses. He also joined the Western Maryland Railway Historical Society and the Sons of the American Legion. He was an honorary Life Member of the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company.
Norman had his own law office in Bel Air, Maryland. He also served as the President of the Harford County Bar Association from 2008 to 2009. This group supports lawyers in Harford County.
Political Career
Norman began his career in state politics in 2008. He was chosen to join the Maryland House of Delegates. This happened when another delegate, Barry Glassman, moved to the Maryland State Senate.
In 2014, Norman was elected to the Maryland Senate. He took over the seat that Barry Glassman had left when Glassman became the Harford County Executive. Norman worked hard for his district, which included parts of Harford and Cecil counties.
Passing Away
H. Wayne Norman Jr. passed away suddenly on March 4, 2018. He was 62 years old.
