HMS Agincourt was a powerful warship with 64 guns. It was known as a "third-rate ship of the line." This means it was a large sailing ship built for battle. It was part of the Royal Navy, which is the navy of Great Britain.

The ship was launched on July 23, 1796. It was built in London at a place called Blackwall Yard. The Royal Navy bought it while it was still being built. It was originally going to be named Earl Talbot by the Honourable East India Company.

Agincourt in Action

Agincourt played a role in an important naval operation. It served in the British navy's campaign in Egypt. This happened between March 8 and September 2, 1801.

Because of its service in Egypt, the ship's officers and crew received a special honor. They were given the "Egypt" clasp for their Naval General Service Medal. This medal was given out in 1850 to those who had served in important naval battles.

A New Role and Name

After its time in battle, Agincourt was taken out of active service in 1809. It was then changed into a troop ship. A troop ship is used to carry soldiers.

On January 6, 1812, the ship was given a new name. It was renamed HMS Bristol.

What Happened to HMS Bristol?

HMS Bristol was sold on December 15, 1814. The buyer paid £4,510 for the ship. There was a condition that it had to be broken up right away. This means the ship was taken apart for its materials.
