The Haageocereus fascicularis is a cool type of cactus. People often call it 'Quisco de la precordillera de Arica'. It belongs to the Cactaceae family, which is the big group of all cacti.
About This Cactus
This special cactus grows naturally in only a few places. You can find it in the southern parts of Peru and the northern parts of Chile. It loves these dry, sunny areas!
What It Looks Like
The Haageocereus fascicularis cactus grows from its base, sending out many branches. It can reach about 3 feet (almost 1 meter) tall. Its many "arms" or stems are usually 2 to 3 inches (about 5 to 7.5 cm) thick.
Flowers and Fruit
This cactus has beautiful white flowers. They are very fragrant, meaning they smell really nice! These flowers open up at night and are about 3 inches (about 7.5 cm) long. After the flowers, the cactus grows bright red fruit.
