Habibollah Asgaroladi Mosalman (Persian: حبيب‌الله عسگراولادی مسلمان‎; January 3, 1932 – November 5, 2013) was an important Iranian politician. He was a leading conservative figure and the head of the Islamic Coalition Party, a very influential political group in Iran. He also served as a Vice President and ran for president two times, in 1981 and 1985. During his 1981 presidential campaign, he survived an attempt on his life.

Early Life and Political Beginnings

Habibollah Asgaroladi was born into a wealthy merchant family in Damavand, Iran. His family had a long history in business. He became involved in politics at a young age.

Key Roles in Government

Asgaroladi held many important positions in the Iranian government. He was a senior member of Iran's Expediency Council. This council helps resolve disagreements between different parts of the government.

He also served as a minister in various roles. These included Minister for Economy, Trade, and Commerce. He was also involved in homeland security and intelligence services.

Presidential Campaigns

Habibollah Asgaroladi ran for president twice. His first attempt was in July 1981. During this campaign, there was an attempt on his life. His bodyguard was killed, but Asgaroladi himself was mostly unharmed. He ran again in the 1985 presidential election.

Founding the Khomeini Relief Foundation

After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Asgaroladi was chosen for a very special task. He was asked to help create the Khomeini Relief Foundation. This organization became the largest social welfare group in the Iranian government. It helps people in need across the country.

Family Business and Legacy

Asgaroladi's family was well-known for their business success. They had interests in many different areas. These included real estate, banking, and healthcare. They also exported goods like dried fruits, nuts, caviar, and saffron.

Habibollah Asgaroladi passed away on November 5, 2013. He was 81 years old. He died in Tehran's Dey Hospital after being ill for over two months.

His funeral was a major event. Many important leaders attended, including the Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani. Other senior government officials were also there to pay their respects.
