Haim Revivo's Club Career
Starting Out in Israel
Haim Revivo started playing football at Hapoel Ashdod. When he was 16, he moved to the youth club of Gadna Tel Aviv Yehuda. He liked this club because it did not have a senior team. This meant he would be free to join any team when he turned 18.
When he was 19, a coach named Giora Spiegel brought him to Bnei Yehuda. Other teams like Hapoel Kfar Saba and Maccabi Petah Tikva had not wanted him. Revivo played for Bnei Yehuda for three seasons. After that, he moved to a rival team in the same city, Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Success at Maccabi Haifa
Later, Revivo joined Maccabi Haifa. He was excited to join this team because he hoped it would help him move to a European club. In his first season with Maccabi Haifa, Revivo was one of the top goal scorers in the league. He scored 17 goals.
In his second season, Revivo wanted to play in the center of the field instead of on the left side. His coach, Giora Spiegel, was not sure at first. But to keep his star player happy, he let another player leave. Revivo proved it was a good decision. He became the league's top goal scorer again. Soon after, Maccabi Haifa sold their star player to a Spanish club called Celta de Vigo.
Playing in Europe
Revivo quickly became a key player for Celta Vigo in Spain. In October 1996, soon after he joined, he was in the news. A league match was scheduled on Yom Kippur, an important Jewish holiday. Revivo really wanted to avoid playing on that day. The club managed to move the match a few hours earlier. Revivo played for as long as he could. He was then taken off the field in the second half so he could go home for the holiday. He had several successful years in Spain and was very popular there. He even won the Israel Sports Figure of the Year Award in 1998.
Revivo then moved to Turkey to play for Fenerbahçe. His first two years were very successful. He helped the team win the Turkish championship in 2001. However, after other famous foreign players joined the team, he felt less important. He decided to leave. His next move caused a lot of talk because he joined Fenerbahçe's rivals in Istanbul, Galatasaray. He only stayed at Galatasaray for one year before leaving Turkey.
Retirement and Business
After his time in Turkey, Revivo returned to Israel. He signed with F.C. Ashdod, a team from his hometown. But after playing only 12 games, he decided to retire from football. Today, Haim Revivo is a successful businessman. He was also one of the former owners of F.C. Ashdod.
