What is Hair Coloring?
Hair coloring is a way to change the natural color of your hair. This can be done using different kinds of products. These products contain special chemicals or natural ingredients. They work by adding color to the hair strands.
Why Do People Color Their Hair?
People choose to color their hair for many reasons. One common reason is to hide gray hair. As people get older, their hair often turns gray or white. Coloring can bring back a more youthful look.
Another reason is simply to change their style. Someone might want to try a bright new color like blue or pink. Or they might want to go from dark hair to light, or vice versa. It's a fun way to express yourself.
Sometimes, hair can get lighter from the sun or from certain hair treatments. Coloring can help bring the hair back to its original color. It can also add highlights or lowlights to create different shades.
Different Ways to Color Hair
There are four main types of hair coloring. They are permanent, demi-permanent, semi-permanent, and temporary. Each type lasts for a different amount of time. They also work in slightly different ways.
Permanent Hair Color
Permanent hair color lasts until your hair grows out or you cut it. It uses chemicals to open up the hair shaft. This allows the new color to go deep inside the hair. This type of color does not wash out. It's good for covering gray hair completely.
Demi-Permanent Hair Color
Demi-permanent color is also called "deposit only." It adds color to the hair but does not lighten it. This type of color lasts for about 20 to 28 shampoos. It slowly fades over time. It's gentler on the hair than permanent color.
Semi-Permanent Hair Color
Semi-permanent hair color lasts for a shorter time. It usually washes out after 4 to 10 shampoos. This color does not go deep into the hair. Instead, it coats the outside of the hair strand. It's a good choice for trying out a new color without a long commitment.
Temporary Hair Color
Temporary hair color is the shortest-lasting type. It usually washes out in just one shampoo. This color simply sits on the surface of the hair. It's often used for fun events or costumes. You can find it in sprays, gels, or rinses.
