The Heterotheca villosa, often called the hairy goldenaster, is a type of flowering plant. It belongs to the aster family, which includes sunflowers and daisies. This plant is found all over North America.

It grows across the central and western parts of the continent. You can find it from Ontario in Canada, west to British Columbia. It also grows south into the United States, in places like Illinois and Kansas. Further south, it reaches Nuevo León and Guanajuato in Mexico. It even grows in northern Baja California.
