You can find the hairy-pod wattle in different places across southeastern Australia. It grows from the Burra Gorge and Bordertown area in South Australia. Its range extends east into the Little Desert and Dimboola areas in Victoria.

This shrub prefers to grow on rocky hills. It is often found as part of scrubland. It also grows in areas where Eucalyptus trees form woodlands. These are its natural homes.
