Haley Danita Anderson (born November 20, 1991) is an American swimmer. She is famous for her amazing skills in open water swimming. This is like swimming long distances in lakes or oceans. Haley won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She finished second in the 10-kilometer open water race at those games.

Haley Anderson was born on November 20, 1991. Her older sister, Alyssa Anderson, is also a talented swimmer. Both sisters have competed in major swimming events together.

Haley went to the University of Southern California. There, she swam for the USC Trojans team. She competed in college swimming from 2010 to 2013.

Haley Anderson has had a very successful swimming career. She has won many medals in different competitions around the world.

Early Achievements

In 2009, Haley competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships. She won first place in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter freestyle events. Later that year, she also competed at the World Aquatics Championships in Rome.

Olympic Success

In June 2012, Haley qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She earned her spot by winning the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier. This event was a 10-kilometer open water race.

At the 2012 London Olympics, Haley won a silver medal. She finished second in the 10-kilometer marathon swimming event. She was very close to winning gold, finishing just 0.40 seconds behind the winner from Hungary. Her sister, Alyssa, also won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. Alyssa was part of the winning U.S. team in a relay race.

Haley has also had great success at the FINA World Championships. These are major international swimming competitions.

  • In 2013, she won a gold medal in the 5-kilometer open water race in Barcelona.

Haley has also won gold medals at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. She won the 10-kilometer open water event in 2014 and again in 2018. She also won a gold medal in the 1500-meter freestyle at the Summer Universiade in 2011.
