Alyssa Jean Anderson (born September 30, 1990) is an American swimmer. She is famous for winning a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics while representing the United States.

About Alyssa Anderson
Alyssa Anderson was born in Santa Clara, California. She grew up in a place called Granite Bay, California. Alyssa went to the University of Arizona. There, she swam for the Arizona Wildcats women's swim team. She competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from 2008 to 2012.
Alyssa has a younger sister named Haley Anderson. Haley is also a talented swimmer. Both sisters competed together at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships.
Alyssa's Swimming Journey
Early Success
Alyssa showed her swimming skills early on. At the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, she won two silver medals. These were for the 800-meter and 1,500-meter freestyle races.
World Championships
In 2009, Alyssa competed at the U.S. Nationals. She finished fourth in the 200-meter freestyle race. This earned her a spot on the U.S. team. She joined the 4x200-meter freestyle relay team. They competed at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships in Rome.
During the preliminary heats in Rome, Alyssa swam the third part of the relay. The U.S. team made it to the final race. They then won a silver medal for their country.
Olympic Dream Comes True
In 2012, Alyssa went to the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. This event helps choose swimmers for the Olympics. Alyssa finished sixth in the 200-meter freestyle. Her time was 1:58.40. This amazing swim qualified her for the U.S. Olympic team. She became a member of the 4x200-meter freestyle relay team.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Alyssa swam in the preliminary heats. Her team was the U.S. 4x200-meter freestyle relay. They performed very well. Because her team won, Alyssa earned a gold medal! Her sister, Haley Anderson, also won a medal at the 2012 Olympics. Haley earned a silver medal in the 10-kilometer open water marathon.
