Half Pint, whose real name is Lindon Andrew Roberts, is a famous reggae, dancehall, and ragga singer from Jamaica. He was born on November 11, 1961.

About Half Pint

Half Pint grew up in Rose Lane, a neighborhood in West Kingston, Jamaica. This area is famous for being the home of many reggae legends, like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and Toots Hibbert.

Early Music Days

Half Pint started singing in his school choir at All Saints' Primary School. After finishing high school in 1976, he wanted to become a singer in Jamaica's music scene.

He traveled around the island with different sound systems. These were like mobile music clubs with huge speakers. Some of the sound systems he worked with included Black Scorpio, Jammys, Gemini, Lee's Unlimited, and Killimanjaro.

Later, he teamed up with many record producers. These included famous names like King Jammy, Sly and Robbie, and Bobby "Digital" Dixon. He also worked with other artists such as Garnett Silk, Tony Rebel, and The Tamlins.

First Hits and Famous Songs

In 1983, Half Pint released his first song, "Sally." It quickly became a hit in Jamaica. Later that same year, his song "Winsome" also became very popular.

He released an album called Money Man Skank. This album was recorded in the early 1980s by King Jammy. It showed off the lively and exciting style of dancehall music.

Half Pint continued to release many songs that became hits both in Jamaica and around the world. Some of these popular songs include "Mr. Landlord," "Level the Vibes," and "Substitute Lover."

His biggest hit of all time is "Greetings," which came out in 1986. This song was recorded in just one take! Besides singles, Half Pint has also released many albums. He has a lot of fans in Europe, Japan, Brazil, and the western United States.

Music in Movies and Covers

Half Pint's 1983 hit song "Winsome" was so popular that The Rolling Stones covered it in 1986. They renamed their version "Too Rude" for their album Dirty Work.

The band Sublime also covered Half Pint's song "Loving" in 1996. Later, in 1996, Sublime's hit song "What I Got" used the chorus from Half Pint's "Loving."

Half Pint's song "Giving/Sharing" was featured in the movie The Mighty Quinn (1989). His music was also used in the films Substitute 2 (1998) and the French comedy Mookie (1998). In 1998, Half Pint signed a deal with BMG Music Publishing Company.

Recent Years and Awards

Even though he didn't record much music for a while, Half Pint had success with his album Legal We Legal. This was his first studio album in ten years! After that, he went on a tour of 15 cities in the US with Anthony B.

In 2000, the Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes in Florida gave Half Pint "The Key to The City." This is a special honor. He also performed with Sly & Robbie on their 25th Anniversary US Tour in 2004.

In 2005, a new version of his song "Winsome" called "Wha Ya Wan" was released. It featured R&B singer DIA.

Half Pint received the "Producer's Respect Award" at the 26th International Reggae and World Music Awards. This event took place in New York City in 2007. That same year, he released another album called No Stress Express.
