Halsua (also known as Halso in Swedish) is a small town, or more accurately, a municipality in Finland. It's a place where people live and work together, managed by its own local government.
Halsua is located in the western part of Finland. It's part of a larger area called Central Ostrobothnia. This region is known for its beautiful nature and quiet towns.
In 2019, about 1,200 people lived in Halsua. The municipality covers a total area of 428.34 square kilometres (165.38 sq mi). A small part of this area, 15.63 km2 (6.03 sq mi), is covered by water, like lakes or rivers. This means there are about 2.45 inhabitants per square kilometre (6.3/sq mi) people living in each square kilometer.
Halsua shares its borders with several other municipalities. These include Kaustinen, Kokkola, Lestijärvi, Perho, and Veteli. The main language spoken in Halsua is Finnish. This means almost everyone there speaks Finnish as their first language.
History of Halsua
Halsua became an official municipality in 1868. This means it has been its own self-governing area for over 150 years. Before that, it was likely part of a larger area.
