Hamlin, Alberta facts for kids
Hamlin is a small, unincorporated community in central Alberta, Canada. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Smoky Lake County.
You can find Hamlin about 15 kilometers (9 miles) south of Highway 28. It is also located about 125 kilometers (78 miles) southwest of a larger place called Cold Lake.
Where Did the Name Hamlin Come From?
The community of Hamlin got its name from a town in England. This English town is called Hamelin. One of the very first people to settle in this area of Alberta came from Hamelin, England. They decided to name their new home after their ancestral home.
