Hampton is located about 13 miles (21 km) southeast of a town called Lowell. It is found on the shore of Lookout Point Lake.

How Did Hampton Start?

Hampton was created in 1952. It began as a station for the Southern Pacific Railroad. This railroad line is now part of the Union Pacific. The railroad tracks had to be moved because Lookout Point Lake was being created. When the tracks were moved, Hampton became a new stop along the line.

Hampton was named after a man named Harry A. Hampton. He was an important engineer for the railroad. He worked for the railroad division from 1922 to 1943.
